? The law gives taxpayers rights and protects taxpayers from being exploited by any tax authority?
? One of such rights of every taxpayer is access to relevant tax laws for Federal, State and Local Governments and other regulations or tax advisers on tax obligations.
? The Kwara State Revenue Administration Law, 2015 (Law No.6 of 2015) assigned on the 22nd of June, 2015 is the law that establishes and guides activities of Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) and the law could be accessed on the website of Service.
? The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) is the sole agency responsible for collection of taxes and other forms of internally generated revenue on behalf of the Kwara State Government.
? Harmony Holdings is a Limited Liability Company, wholly owned by the Kwara State Government and as a holding company, it oversees and provides strategic direction for subsidiary companies and other businesses of the State government.
? No other agencies of Kwara State government, aside KWIRS has core mandate of revenue collection on behalf of Kwara State.
? Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KW-GIS) is responsible for all land administration in the State and works in conjunction with KWIRS for the collection of land related revenues in the State.
? KWIRS does not have access or power to any of the revenue being collected.
? All revenue generated for Kwara State goes into the Kwara State Government IGR Accounts, and only the office of the Accountant General of the State oversees the accounts.
? The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) has the responsibility of monitoring and reconciling all lines of revenue from all institutions and agencies of government through its staff working with the various MDAs and meeting with relevant stakeholders in the drive and collection of revenue for the State.
? The online platforms of the KWIRS possess the ability to generate receipts for payments made online.
? Taxpayers are to transact directly with the official revenue officers at the various KWIRS offices and payment points situated across the State and ensure all payments are receipted accordingly.
? Taxpayers can call KWIRS on 07006959477 or send reports to the official email address of the Service helpdesk@kw-irs.com for clarifications, enquires or when dissatisfied with the service rendered to them or in doubt of any personnel or activities at the various revenue touch points across the State.
? All revenue payments are to be made into the Kwara State Government IGR Accounts through the online payment platforms provided by the State. That is REMITA, QUICKTELLER, PAYARENA and others to be communicated in due course.
