The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) received the newly inaugurated Executive Committee Members of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) Ilorin and District Society on a courtesy visit, at its corporate head office in Ilorin on  Wednesday, 5th November, 2025.

Leading the delegation was the District Chairman, Taofiq Alabi, who stated that the purpose of the visit was to appreciate the Executive Chairman for her relentless support and the Service’ contributions towards the success of the District, particularly the recently held investiture ceremony of the District’s 7th Chairman, and inauguration of the Executive Committee. He pledged the District’s readiness under his leadership to partner with and support the Service in any way possible especially in the era of tax reforms.

Speaking further, Alabi outlined some proposed activities of the District which include training of members on data analytics, tax advocacy for market traders during the annual tax week, and engagement with the organized private sector.

In response, the KWIRS boss applauded the Executive Members for their interest in supporting the Service, rather than seeking what the Service can do for them as is the usual practice. She appreciated the District for coming up with the initiatives particularly the proposed training of members on data analytics, considering the fact that Artificial Intelligence is a major disruption which everyone needs to embrace. Omoniyi added that it is necessary for tax professionals to be armed with the requisite knowledge of AI and the changes brought about by the tax reforms, stating that the Service was willing to partner with the District for the progress of the State.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a Champion of Professional Development Award to the Executive Chairman in recognition of her unwavering support and invaluable contribution to the CITN Ilorin and District Society.

In attendance were the KWIRS Director, Legal and Compliance, Shehu Abdullahi, and Executive Committee members of the CITN Ilorin and District Society.
