As part of its continuous engagement of stakeholders in the State towards the enhancement of IGR for the developmental agenda of the State government, the Executive Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), Shade Omoniyi, led the team of top management and staff of KW-IRS on a courtesy visit to the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, His Royal Highness, Oba (Barrister) Ismail Yahaya Atoloye Alebiosu, today, Tuesday 26th April, 2022.
Giving her remarks at the palace of the Olupo of Ajase Ipo, the Executive Chairman, KW-IRS, once again, congratulated the royal father on his assumption to the throne of his forefathers, prayed peaceful and fruitful reign for him.
She stated that the visit was to officially pay homage to the paramount ruler of Ajase Ipo kingdom and to solicit continuous involvement and collaboration of the traditional ruler in the attainment of the goal of an improved revenue generation in Ajase Ipo town and Irepodun Local Government Area at large.
“Tax compliance is key to the development of any society and should be embraced by all as a way of contributing to the Kwara everyone desires to have” stated Omoniyi. The Executive Chairman, KW-IRS added that continuous sensitization on full acceptance of the reforms in place in the State in revenue collection through technology and the ticketing model of collection for the markets and various unions and associations is encouraged to grow the IGR of the State.
In his response, the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo Oba Ismail Yahaya Atoloye Alebiosu expressed his gratitude to the visiting team and to the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led administration, especially for the laudable development ongoing all across the State, which he noted will in return foster tax compliance and improve the lives of both the indigenes and residents of Kwara.
Oba Ismail Atoloye Alebiosu appreciated Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his selfless leadership style evident in his approach to ensuring taxpayers’ money is at work across the State through various developmental projects and particularly for the recent provision of block of classrooms for schools in Ajase Ipo and a borehole inside the Ajase Ipo Kara market.
The traditional ruler also applauded the success recorded in tax administration of the State since the commencement of the current administration, and the introduction of improved technology and innovations to blocking revenue leakages. Oba Alebiosu promised to continue to liaise with every sectorial heads of markets, artisans, professional and corporate bodies within his domain in the area of payment of all that is due on their income as tax to aid the development of the State.
The Olupo of Ajase Ipo charged KW-IRS to remain dedicated and steadfast on its core mandate and not to relent on its oars in bringing all taxable individuals and entities in the State into the tax net and in the blockage of any form of revenue leakage.
The visiting team led by the Executive Chairman, KW-IRS, Shade Omoniyi, had the Director, Admin and Operations, Olatunji Balogun, Director, Legal and Compliance, Shehu Abdullahi, Director, Income Tax, Mohammed Usman, Head Internal Audit, Abdulraheem Yusuf, Heads of Corporate Tax, Informal Sector, Corporate Affairs, Zonal Coordinator, Kwara South and members of staff of the Service.
