Management and Staff of Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) on Tuesday 28th February 2023, hosted colleagues, family, and friends in its Corporate Head office in Ilorin to celebrate the meritorious service of one of its own, Sunday Samuel Agbana.
Described by many as a humble man, who has greatly impacted the career of many successful tax professionals within and outside of the Service, the Executive Chairman, Shade Omoniyi, confirmed Mr. Sunday Agbana as a simple man, who through his humility, dedication, commitment, hard work and contribution to the enhancement of tax knowledge and revenue of Kwara won the admiration of many.
“Mr. Sunday Agbana is one of a kind, a successful tax man, an encyclopedia of tax administration, a tax library, a tax man par excellence,” said Omoniyi.
Appreciating the tax icon, the Directors, Staff, and friends of the celebrant filled the atmosphere with outpour of emotions and encomium for the tax guru, describing Sunday Agbana, as a versatile tax administrator, an industrious individual who on several occasions proffer well-thought-out solutions to tax-related issues.
“We are saddened with the fact that he is leaving the active work life of the Service with his vast experience, nevertheless, we are assured of the readiness of Mr. Agbana to continually avail himself whenever the need arises,” said Directors and staff of the Service.
Sunday Agbana, while reacting to the impressive celebration of him and commendations from colleagues, family, and friends appreciated the top Management team of KW-IRS, ably led by the Executive Chairman, Shade Omoniyi, and staff of the Service for the support and love for him, with charge and appeal to staff to continue to embrace and share the vision of an improved IGR to allow for more development across the State, adding that, through hard work, dedication and readiness of all to impact lives positively, with no intention of self-gains, the continuous growth of the Service and the State as a whole is assured.
Agbana noted that all good deeds get rewarded accordingly and posterity never forgets contributions geared toward the good of humanity.
Sunday Samuel Agbana is a graduate of Public Accounting and Auditing from the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, and Accounting from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the National Open University of Nigeria; a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and he is also a certified ISO Lead Implementer.
Sunday Agbana voluntarily resigned his employment with the Kwara State Civil Service and joined the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) on the 4th of January, 2016. Until his retirement, he was the Assistant Director, Corporate Department of the Income Tax Directorate of KW-IRS.
He worked tirelessly throughout his years at KW-IRS and functioned perfectly in different Departments and Directorates until his retirement, without any blemish to his name or his carefully nurtured professional career.
Wishing him a happy retirement in good health, blessing, protection of God, and success in his future plans, the celebration of the exit of Sunday Samuel Agbana from active service of KW-IRS, also marked his 60th birthday; organized by KW-IRS and graced by KW-IRS Board members, Top Management, Staff, and well-wishers, to honour and appreciate his invaluable professionalism and contributions to Tax administration in Kwara.
