The Executive Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) Shade Omoniyi, on Wednesday, 4th February, 2026, hosted members of the planning committee of a one-day joint seminar at the KW-IRS Corporate Head Office, G.R.A, Ilorin.
The seminar themed “Taxes for SME’s: Supporting Small Businesses to Thrive Under the New Tax Reforms Regime” is organised by the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) Ilorin & District Society, Kwara State Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines & Agriculture (KWACCIMA), and the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Ilorin & District Society.

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Ramat Sulyman, the Vice President, Finance & other Professional Services, KWACCIMA, who doubles as the Chairperson, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, Ilorin & District Society, stated that the purpose of the visit was to formally notify KW-IRS of the forthcoming seminar scheduled for 4th March 2026 jointly organised by the bodies and aimed to address small businesses and their operations following the implementation of the new tax laws in Nigeria. She also appealed for the deployment of taxation professionals to the seminar to provide thorough enlightenment on concerns relating to SMEs under the new tax regime from the Service. She also commended the KW-IRS Executive Chairman’s efforts in redefining revenue mobilisation through technology adoption and its productive partnership with taxation institutions in the State over the years.
The Executive Chairman, Shade Omoniyi, in her response, commended the initiative of the planning committee with members drawn from three professional bodies in the State. She acknowledged the timeliness, decency of purpose, and effectiveness of the proposed seminar, and its theme, describing it as a veritable tool to address, enlighten, and understand the new tax laws as they affect SME business owners in the State.
Omoniyi expressed gratitude to the professional bodies for their collaborative efforts and devotion in maintaining a forefront position in tax advocacy in the State. She added that forums such as the proposed seminar are avenues for advocacies and enlightenment of business owners on the importance of transaction records, and proper bookkeeping, especially for businesses operating at a micro level in the State.
She assured the committee of the Service’s support towards the proposed one-day joint seminar, while looking forward to an improved implementation of the new tax laws and effective micro businesses classification at the end of the seminar.
