The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) 2021 End of Year Games which kicked off on Thursday, 18th November 2021 at the KW-IRS Phase III office, Trillium School field, Irewolede, Ilorin, has hit the semi-final stage after runs of interesting group matches amongst the six (6) soccer teams that registered for the competition.
This year’s 6th edition of the championship, had interested players shared across six (6) strong teams namely; Executive Chairman Team (EC Fc), Admin & Operations Team (AOP Fc), Legal & Compliance Team (LC Fc), Income Tax Team (I&T Fc), MDAs Team (MDAs Fc) and Accounts & Finance Team (A&F Fc).
The group stages completed yesterday Thursday 25th November 2021, had four (4) strong teams advanced to the semi-final stage of the championship. The Executive Chairman Fc, Accounts & Finance Fc, Income Tax Fc, and MDAs Fc are teams that qualified for the next round of the game.
The semi-final rounds will run from Tuesday to Wednesday, 7th & 8th December 2021, Executive Chairman Team will play the MDAs Team in the match opener on Tuesday, 4 pm, while the Income Tax Team will drag horns with the Accounts & Finance Team later on Wednesday afternoon to determine the 2021 End of Year soccer games finalists.
The third-place contender game holds on Friday 10th December 2021, while the final game to wrap up this year’s End of Year soccer championship games will be communicated to the general public in due time.
However, the End of Year games also features other exciting games such as, table tennis, chess, local draft, and scrabble board games, volleyball, athletics which will be keenly competed by both male and female staff of the Service. The table tennis games will start today at 4:15 pm at the KW-IRS Phase 1 office premises.
Earlier, addressing staff during the official kick-off exercise of the annual ceremonial EOY games at the KW-IRS Phase III Office, Trillium School Field, Irewolede, the Executive Chairman, (KW-IRS), Shade Omoniyi, ably represented by the Head, Human Resources Department, Iyabo Salawudeen, said the essence of the games is to foster unity, build friendship outside regular work schedules and promote healthy living amongst staff in the Service. She calls for the spirit of sportsmanship and wishes participants a wonderful festive season.
