In continuation of its working visit to traditional rulers in the State, and in a bid to tap into all available revenue potentials, the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, (KW-IRS), paid a courtesy and working visit on Royal fathers in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State on Wednesday, 16th June, 2021.
The Executive Chairman of KW-IRS, Shade Omoniyi, her management team and some staff of KW-IRS were warmly received by both the Olusin of Isanlu Isin, who is also the Chairman, Isin Traditional Council, His Royal Highness, Oba Dr Solomon Olugbenga Oloyede, Ilufemiloye II, and his counterpart, the Olusin of Ijara Isin,
His Royal Highness, Oba Pharmacist Julius Ademola Ajibola.
Speaking during the visit, Shade Omoniyi expressed her immense appreciation to the monarchs for the exceptional reception and stated that the visit was part of her endless effort towards stimulating tax drive and compliance in the State and to also solicit continuous involvement of the traditional rulers in the attainment of the goal of an improved revenue generation in Isin Local Government Area.
She reiterated the commitment of the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led administration in ensuring provision of amenities that will make the lives of people in Kwara a lot comfortable.
Omoniyi stated that in order to facilitate ease of revenue administration and processes for the State, the KW-IRS operations have been brought closer to the people at all LGAs of the State through the creation of additional eight Area offices to the existing five, and a total of thirteen Area offices now situated in LGAs across the State with appointment of Area coordinators to work closely with LGAs and ensure seamless tax administration.
In his response, the Olusin of Isanlu Isin appreciated the KW-IRS visiting team and the government of the day for the interventions in various ways that could improve the lives of the people.
The Olusin of Ijara Isin, emphasised the importance of tax in the development of any serious minded community and its people.
The business mogul who doubles as the Vice Chairman, Isin Traditional council noted that on assumption of the throne of his fore fathers in the last six months, he had received tremendous supports of the Kwara State government.
“Ijara Isin and its environs have received not less than nine boreholes, a transformer and thirty (30) electric poles.
“Howelse can the community show appreciation to the government than continue to give needed support in area of payment of taxes as and when due to encourage more development in the Local Government and environs. The poor narrative given to Isin local government as the poorest local government in the State is unfortunate, the community is blessed with untapped areas of revenue generation.
“Isin is blessed with Cashew and Timber which can sustain the State conveniently, unfortunately it is being underutilised and hijacked by some people.
“I am a tax compliant citizen of Kwara and i will give my utmost support in increasing the internally generated revenue for my local government and State” the monarch of Ijara Isin reaffirmed.
Also corroborating the submission of the monarchs at the meeting, were Honourable Kunle Awolola, a member representing Isin constituency in the State House of Assembly and the Chairman, Transition Implementation Committee, Mr.Tunde Fadipe, both promised unwavering support in the improvement of IGR for the strategic development of the State.
“More will be done in the areas of data gathering of taxable individuals and entities into the tax net and in blockage of revenue leakages.
The Head, Health Department of the Local Government Council, Tawakalitu Ambali also lend her voice by expressing gratitude to the visiting team, while applauding the Service’ devotion towards the growth of Kwara State through revenue generation.
She assured that, Isin community will not relent in giving required support towards witnessing more growth in the State.
The KW-IRS team includes the Director, Accounts & Finance, Omolara Ojulari, Director Admin & Operations,Olatunji Balogun, and Director Legal & Compliance, Shehu Abdullahi.
