The Executive Chairman, KW-IRS, Shade Omoniyi alongside some management staff of the Service on 18th June 2020 made a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem. Also in attendance were the principal officers of the University, Dr. Fola Olowoleni, Registrar; Mr. Hakeem Sonde, Bursar; Mr. AbdulGaniyu Olaniyan, Deputy Bursar; and Mr. Toyin Bamgboye, Deputy Registrar.
The visit was to strengthen the bond between the Service and the University. The Executive Chairman in her speech thanked the VC for welcoming them and also the University for being one of the Institutions that has been instrumental to the growth of revenue in the State.
Mrs. Shade Omoniyi intimated the University on the advantage of fleet registration of their vehicles which allows some discounted rates rather than individual registration. She also stated that the stamp duty and WHT, for non-limited liabilities companies should be remitted to the State IRS. In her concluding speech, she mentioned the need to ensure other business ventures within the school premises are being captured into the tax net to ensure the right tax is being remitted to the Service.
Professor Age, in his response, thanked the Executive Chairman and her team for coming and requested that if possible, there should be some level of tax relief for business owners in the University premises as this would enable Staff and Students to have less burden and be able to purchase the commodities or afford services rendered.
Also, he implored the Executive Chairman to grant the university some sort of incentive by reducing the rates of all forms of revenue gotten from the University.
Dr. Fola Olowoleni, the Registrar appreciated the EC and her team and finally made the presentation of gifts on behalf of the University.
