The Executive Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue (KW-IRS), Shade Omoniyi in company of some members of the top management team received the Chairman and some members of the Kwara State Television (KWTV) Governing Council at the Corporate Head Office, Ilorin on Tuesday, 15th November, 2022.
The Chairman, Governing Council, KWTV, Hameed Adio acknowledged the Service patronage of the television station, and stated that the purpose of the visit is to seek a more collaborative working relationship between the two Agencies. He applauded the efforts of KW-IRS towards improving the revenue base of the State in order to assist the government to provide dividends of democracy to Kwarans. Adio also appreciated the media-friendly Governor, His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for reviving the television station, which had hitherto been in a state of near comatose.
On his part, the General Manager, KWTV, Olatunde Michaels, while commending the Executive Chairman for the warm welcome and patronage, explained that the station is working on improving its content, extending its coverage to other States and going global. He however highlighted some challenges facing the State-owned television station in relation to revenue generation.
In her response, the Executive Chairman, Shade Omoniyi welcomed the Chairman and members of the KWTV Governing Council to KW-IRS and assured the team of continuous patronage by the Service. She shed light on the issues raised by the General Manager and proffered feasible solutions to them. Omoniyi therefore appealed to the KWTV management for inclusion of tax advocacy messages in their programs so as to improve the tax compliance level in the State.
In attendance were the KW-IRS Director, Income Tax, Mohammed Usman, Director, Legal and Compliance, Shehu Mogaji, Director Admin and Operations, Olatunji Balogun, Head, Internal Audit, Abdulraheem Yusuf as well as Abdullateef Alaye, Kawu Shuaib, Tina Olaoye and other members of the KWTV team.
