Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) participated in the E-Government Hackathon challenge held on 28th and 29th January 2023 in Ilorin, as one of the major partners on the project and as an agency of Kwara State government using technology to drive seamless tax administration to improve IGR for the State.
The over 48hours challenge is an initiative of the Kwara State Government under the Ilorin Innovation Hub, designed to solve some key problems in government using technology through engagement of interested individuals in coding exercise to come up with workable solutions that the government could adopt to increase efficiency in government administration.
Aside the event assembling young Information Technology (IT) experts from Kwara State to provide solutions to problems affecting service delivery and performance at different sectors of the State through software engineering system, the event also showcased and rewarded local technology talents.
The IT talents, grouped into over 30 teams, had ‘Team Health Stack’ emerged the overall winner of the keenly contested challenge, clinching a cash prize of N2, 000,000.00 (Two Million Naira Only), having successfully built an application that will enhance the medical record system of the Health Sector in Kwara State tagged “Health Stack”.
Giving her remarks at the maiden edition of the project, which had top government functionaries, and information technology experts from across the world, the Executive Chairman, KW-IRS, Shade Omoniyi commended the initiative of the State government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The KW-IRS boss, who is also an Information Technology expert, congratulated the winning team and all participants for their commitment and contributions towards solving socio-economy problems in Kwara State, assuring young talents in the area technology in the State of continuous support and collaboration of KW-IRS in realization of an IT-driven Kwara.
