Two Staff of Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, in the Motor Licensing Authority (MLA) department of MDAs Directorate, stood outstanding in the discharge of their duties by assisting with the recovery of a stolen Toyota Corolla Vehicle.
The Toyota Saloon car was stolen in Lagos State in 2019 and was immediately reported to a Police Station in Ketu area by the owner, Dr. Ayoola Shakirudeen of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos State.
In an interaction with the two Motor Licensing Officers (MLOs), who was at the forefront of the discovery of the stolen car, at the KW-IRS Corporate Head Office recently, they narrated that the new buyer, a woman, in an attempt to re-register the car, presented the vehicle documents and while performing due diligence on all papers presented with the details for verification on the computer, it was observed that the car has series of questionable traits and immediately she was informed that she has presented details of a stolen car and would be detained for further interrogation.
The Legal and Compliance Directorate of KW-IRS and the State Investigation Bureau were notified as to the norms for such cases and the woman in the company of two other men suspected to have facilitated the theft were subsequently arrested for possible trials at the court of law.
Both MLO’s also revealed how they have recovered no fewer than four (4) stolen vehicles since they assumed office at the Motor Licensing Office in the last two (2) years.
