The Executive Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), Shade Omoniyi, on Tuesday, received members of Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS) at the Corporate Head Office of the Service in Ilorin.
The Director, Finance and Corporate Tax, Ekiti State IRS, Titilayo Aboderin, who led the 4-man team to Kwara State, stated that, the visit was to study and learn from the operations and business processes as obtainable in KW-IRS, towards the improvement of revenue mobilization and tax administration in Ekiti State.
Aboderin noted that, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service is doing so well in its responsibility of tax administration, hence its selection for the exercise out of the selected few revenue agencies in the country.
The working visit understudied various directorates and departments of KW-IRS and engaged in extensive discussion on tax matters, tax issues and ideas that could assist in better collaboration with Kwara.
The Director, Finance and Corporate Tax, Ekiti State IRS, Titilayo Aboderin, on behalf of the team appreciated the warmth reception, openness and great efforts put into the documentation of all the business processes and training of staff of KW-IRS.
The team commended the leadership of KW-IRS for the great reforms ongoing in the Service and the laudable development in the State.
Giving her welcome remarks, the Executive Chairman, KW-IRS, Shade Omoniyi, stated that KW-IRS being the only ISO certified revenue Service in the country continues to collaborate towards excellent service delivery, integrity and effectiveness of tax administration in the State and the country as a whole.
She further stated that KW-IRS is established solely to mobilize revenue for the strategic development of the State and operates an open door policy for greater development and growth.
Omoniyi added that, KW-IRS, under the leadership of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, has not introduced any new tax, rather continues in its automation drive, tax advocacy and promotion of seamless tax administration by providing various measures to bringing in all income earners in the State into the tax net and ensuring appropriate tax deduction and remittance and blockage of all revenue leakages.
Other members of the visiting team were the Secretary to the EKIRS Board, Oluwadare Kehinde Ahmed, Director Tax Compliance Fatai Badmus and Director New Growth and other Taxes, Olusegun Alasan.
The exercise had in attendance top management team and representatives from the 5 directorates and 24 departments of KW-IRS.
