As part of an effort by Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) in continuing to foster a cordial relationship with various associations, unions, stakeholders, and taxpayers, the Service on Wednesday 9th of September hosted a One-Day sensitization and interactive program in Offa Local government area of Kwara State.
The interactive meeting was coordinated by the Area Coordinator, Offa Area Office, Mr. Femi Oguntokun.
In his opening address, he expressed appreciation to the various stakeholders and Union excos present at the meeting for honouring the invitation and providing an avenue for an improved relationship.
He said the essence of the meeting was to re-emphasize the importance of tax compliance to registered unions and associations in the State, encouraging members to bear in mind that tax payment remains a civic responsibility.
In their separate responses, the Branch Chairman, Kwara State Hotelier Association, Offa Branch, and the Chairman, Igbo Traders Association Mr. Femi Makinde and Mr. Okonkwo appealed to the Service to ensure that all registered members enjoy equal treatment and disallow pleasant treatment for uncompliant members to avoid unhealthy rivalry.
They also seek for continuous interaction and engagement of all registered members of their respective associations and promised to render needed support to the Service for the State’s revenue development.
Also speaking at the interactive meeting, the Chairman, Offa Descendant Union (O.D.U) hailed the Executive Chairman, Shade Omoniyi for her continuous support to the various registered Unions since she assumes office and her effort towards revenue generation in the State.
He further expressed the importance of a tax-compliant society, appealing to stakeholders and associations leaders to continue to mobilize members to take responsibility and pay their taxes promptly.
