The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), Shade Omoniyi, on Thursday, 12th March, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Ilorin Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), ACE I Victoria Ugo, at the Commission’s office in GRA, Ilorin.
According to the Executive Chairman, the visit was aimed at formally welcoming the new Zonal Director to her office and exploring avenues for both agencies to strengthen collaboration through intelligence sharing and strategic partnership towards improving tax compliance in the State.
Omoniyi emphasized the importance of sustained inter-agency cooperation in curbing tax evasion. She also highlighted the need for robust taxpayer sensitization programmes, public enlightenment initiatives to promote voluntary tax compliance, and sustained advocacy to encourage better understanding and adoption of the newly implemented tax laws.
She congratulated the Zonal Director on her well-deserved appointment and expressed optimism that her tenure would not only help reduce financial crimes within the zone but also contribute significantly to the growth of the State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
In her response, the Zonal Director, ACE I Victoria Ugo, commended the Executive Chairman and her team for the visit. She assured the Service of the Commission’s commitment to sustaining a productive working relationship, noting that the EFCC remains resolute in promoting tax compliance as a critical component of financial integrity and national development.
In attendance at the meeting were the KW-IRS Director of Accounts and Finance, Omolara Ojulari; Director of Legal and Compliance, Shehu Abdullahi; Director of Income Tax, Mohammed Usman; and other staff members from both agencies.
