The Annual Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) End of Year Sports Festival ended today Thursday, 14th December 2023 with Legal and Compliance Team emerging winner of this year’s soccer competition after sparring it out squarely with their counterpart, Accounts and Finance Team.
Legal and Compliance Team emerged victorious after an outstanding performance to win the grand prize. Both teams dominated the first half session of the tough encounter but could not find the back of the net as the defense stood tall, canceling out all half chances to end the opening quarter in a goalless draw.
The second half opened with much action in the box as both teams came out with much determination to win the gold medal. The sturdy defense of team Accounts and Finance was wrecked in the opening parts of the second half as talisman Usman Aberi pulled a lone strike to beat his opposing goalkeeper. The strike was enough for Aberi’s team to claim the title of this year’s edition of the KW-IRS End-of-Year Soccer Game as the match ended 1-0 in favour of Legal and Compliance Team.
The finale of the soccer game held at the Trillium school sports facility at Irewolede road, Ilorin, Kwara State, did not fall short of cheerful spectators comprised of KW-IRS top management team and staff, stakeholders, sports lovers, friends of KW-IRS in and outside the State.
