The Executive Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), Shade Omoniyi in the company of top management staff of the Service hosted the Council members of the National Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) on 13th January 2022 at the KW-IRS Corporate Head Office, G.R.A, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The CITN visiting team was led by its National President and Chairman of Council, Mr. Adeshina Adedayo.
In his opening address at the meeting, Mr. Adedayo stated that the reason for the working visit to Kwara State was to formally notify the leadership of KW-IRS of the plans and scheduled activities of the Institute for the year 2022, seek needed support of Kwara State Government led by Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq towards the success of the forthcoming CITN 40th Anniversary, bid to hold in Lagos State and FCT Abuja in February, 2022.
According to the CITN National President, “CITN Council seeks continuous partnership and support of KW-IRS, in full representation at the forthcoming CITN 40th Annual Conference, enrolment of staff in CITN professional courses at the Tax Academy situated in Ilorin, and other programs of the institute”.
Mr. Adedayo expressed appreciation to the KW-IRS Executive Chairman, Shade Omoniyi for her support to CITN, the Society of Women in Taxation (SWIT), and other professional bodies in and outside the State since she assumed office.
In her response, the Executive Chairman, KW-IRS, Shade Omoniyi expressed her appreciation to the new National President, Mr. Adeshina Adedayo, and the immediate past president, Dame Olajumoke Simplice and other Council members and executives of CITN, Ilorin District and Society.
Omoniyi commended the collaboration of CITN in tax administration improvement in Nigeria over the years and assures that the Service has keyed into CITN programs as its major channel for capacity building and will continue to provide needed support for the growth and expansion of the Tax Academy as the host community, lauding the array of programs reeled-out by the National President of the Institute for the year 2022.
“In KW-IRS, bid towards continuous improvement of revenue mobilization for economic prosperity of the State, remains our mandate” stated Shade Omoniyi.
She cleared the air that the Kwara State Government, under the leadership of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq has not introduced any new taxes, rather promoting various measures for an improved revenue generation, particularly in full automation of all revenue processes of the State.
The KW-IRS boss further affirms her subscription to the initiatives of the proposed Joint Technical Committee on taxation in the country, saying it is a vital measure towards effective and efficient revenue administration in the country.
Shade Omoniyi, assures of the participation and collaboration of KW-IRS in the forthcoming CITN 40th Annual Conference and an open-door policy for mutually beneficial relationship.
The working visit had in attendance, top Management staff of KW-IRS, CITN Council Members, the National Chairperson of Society of Women in Taxation (SWIT), Dr. Abiola Adimula, Chairman CITN Ilorin District and Society, Honourable Taiwo Abdullahi and other principal officers of the institute.
