In continuation of the first-ever Computer Based Test (CBT) for Taxclub Quiz Competition for Secondary Schools in Kwara State, the Kwara South Senatorial District, had their turn of the first and second rounds of the competition, today, Thursday, 8th July 2021 at the Omupo Anglican Grammar School, Omupo.
The event, organized by the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) in collaboration with the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development had in attendance, the Olomu of Omupo, His Royal Highness, Oba Muhammed Yakubu Buari Adebayo II, who is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, the Executive Chairman, KW-IRS, Shade Omoniyi, Chiefs of Omupo and educationists in the State.
In his remarks, Oba Yakubu Buari commended the KW-IRS team, led by its Executive Chairman, Shade Omoniyi, for the initiative of continuous tax advocacy in the State, particularly on students; through inculcating tax knowledge and its importance into the younger generation.
The Monarch appreciated the honour of staging the preliminary of the 2021 Taxclub quiz competition for Kwara South in his domain, charging the participating schools to see the competition as an opportunity to learn the importance of taxation to the economy and development of the state and country at large and to also grow to becoming carriers of right information and education about taxation.
Giving her address at the event, the Executive Chairman (KW-IRS), Shade Omoniyi, welcomed and appreciated the presence of the royal father, the representatives of the Omupo community, the host school, and all participants.
The KW-IRS boss emphasized the purpose of the Tax Club Quiz Competition, which was not aimed at only rewarding excellent performance but to raise a generation of informed and tax compliant citizens.
She admonished all participants to adhere strictly to the rules of the game, do away with any form of malpractice and embrace sportsmanship spirit, even after the exercise.
The rounds 1 & 2 of the competition for Kwara South had 31(thirty-one) schools, out of which 6(six) schools qualified to the semi-final stage of the competition; namely Anglican Boys Academy Oro, Adeola College Offa, Notre Dam Girls Academy Amoyo, Bimaks International School Ijagbo, St. Clares Anglican Girls Grammar School Offa and UMCA Secondary School Share.
Rounds 1 and 2 of the competition for Kwara Central Senatorial District hold on Monday,12th July 2021, after which the Semi-Final and the Final take place in November, 2021, in Ilorin, the State Capital.
