REVENUE MOBILIZATION STRATEGIES FOR KWARA: KW-IRS MEETS IVTEC

The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), paid a working visit to the International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship College, (IVTEC) in Ajase Ipo, Kwara State, on Tuesday to discuss enhanced revenue drive and compliance to proper deduction and remittance of all tax due to the State Government.

Giving her remarks during the visit, the Executive Chairman, KW-IRS, Shade Omoniyi appreciated the Rector and Management of IVTEC, for always creating avenues for engagement on best approach to improving  and collaborating towards the developmental goal of the State.

“One of the tools of revenue drive of KW-IRS is engagement of all stakeholders for better performance” said Omoniyi.

She noted, that the State through KW-IRS, giving the Artisans and willing youths, vocational training at the college is by a way integrating them into knowledge acquisition, use of modern technology and facilities and as it forms part of the Community Impact Projects of the Service with expectations that the opportunity will not only help governance but will also improve skills, tax education, tax compliance and breed productive individuals for the growth of selves and Kwara State.

Omoniyi encouraged the college to continue to put in its best in turning out graduates that the State would be proud of.

She further calls for embracement of the use of the automation platforms provided by State for proper capturing of activities of the college and to aid seamless reconciliation process.

Shade Omoniyi emphasised need for tax compliance and correct deduction and remittance of PAYE and other statutory deductions of the college and in submission of nominal roll as required and filing of returns as and when due.

Welcoming the visiting team, the Rector, IVTEC, Dr.Ade Somide, noted that the college has been a tax compliant institution and commits to maintaining the already existing good relationship and in better synergy with the KW-IRS.

Somide expressed his delight in supports received by the college through the World Bank assisted programs. He did not fail to recognise the initiatives and efforts of the current administration, in strengthening the activities of the college.

He added that supports and sponsorship are also being received from some individuals and corporate bodies in the State, who enrol artisans and youths in the college as part of their empowerment programs.

“The college will not cease to work towards ensuring its own continous growth and in collaborating to boosting revenue being generated for the State” Somide said.

The visit had in attendance the Registrar and Bursar of IVTEC, Mr Lateef Lawal and Mr Aransiola Timothy respectively.

Also in attendance were Directors of KW-IRS, Omolara Ojulari, Olatunji Balogun, Shehu Mogaji Abdullahi and some staff of KW-IRS.
