A team from Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), led by the Executive Chairman, Shade Omoniyi, paid a visit to Landmark University on the 5th of February, 2020. The visitation was primarily to discuss some tax-related matters with the institution given its position as one of the Service’s major taxpayers.
The team was received by the institution’s Registrar, Fola Funke Oyinloye who introduced the principal officers of the University present at the roundtable meeting while KW-IRS’s Head of Corporate Affairs Department, Temi Kolawole also introduced his team.
Omoniyi, in her address congratulated the wife of the Chancellor, Mrs Faith Oyedepo on her birthday celebration and reiterated that the purpose of the visit was to keep the institution abreast of new developments initiated by KW-IRS for Quality Service Delivery.
At the top of the list as stated by Omoniyi is the establishment of new area offices envisioned to cover all local governments in the state in order to ensure that the taxation system has proximity to taxpayers.
In his response, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adeniyi Olagunju appreciated the KW-IRS team for the visit and the viable initiative. He informed them of the university’s specifics which is based on agricultural practices, its vision and core values in relation to taxation with quotes from the bible and assured the Executive Chairman that necessary steps will be taken to resolve the tax-related issues highlighted.
He also promised that the institution will continue to work with the Service by being compliant as a way of improving the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.
