In its continuous effort to automate all business processes of the State,the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, (KW-IRS), on Thursday 21st October, 2021 holds a sensitization training for all officers in-charge of PAYE remittance in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Kwara State.

The one-day training focused on showing all concerned participants the rudiments of using the payment platforms approved and provided by the State to transact all revenue related activities.

Representing the Executive Chairman, KW-IRS,Shade Omoniyi,the Director, Income Tax, Mohammed Usman in his welcome address appreciated the participants for honouring the call and for the show of readiness to accept the automation systems for use as required.

Shade Omoniyi through her representative,also state that the exercise is paramount to the Service and State, with emphasis that embracing automation is the key to ease of doing business and remains the strategy to be put in place by any serious government to ensure seamlessness in tax administration and collection of required revenue into the coffers of the government.

Speaking to the presentation slides, the Teamlead, KW-IRS Process Improvement and Business Analysis,Taofiq Alabi took participants through the step by step of the payment platforms and Self Service Portal and live environment of the platforms, explaining several other activities that could be carried out on the Self Service Portal of KW-IRS, such as payment making,submission of PAYE schedule, application for Kwara State Residential Identification Number (KRIN) and Tax Identification Number (TIN) and other applications,among others.

Participants were exposed to the use of the links to navigate the three available payment platforms for use in the State, that is, the Remita, PayArena and Quickteller.

The trainer did not fail to reiterate that, submission of PAYE schedule by employers is required alongside PAYE remittance to make sending of SMS notification about the deductions made from salary of each staff and as remitted on their behalf to the State possible, adding that, this is another benefit of the automation system of the State.

The session witnessed questions and answers and participants appreciated the opportunity of the training, with pledge to comply to the usage, considering the embedded benefit of convenience,which eliminates travelling to KW-IRS for submission of salary schedule in particular.

Closing the session,the Director Legal and Compliance, Shehu Mogaji Abdullahi in his remarks, commended the acceptability of the platforms by various MDAs in the State, stating that the idea of automation of business processes of the State is not only to ease collection,but to eliminate any form of revenue leakages and to improve the IGR generation for the State.

The meeting was put on notice of the commencement of issuance of e-TCC before the year runs out,which enables taxpayers who have settled all due payment to print out their Tax Clearance Certificates on their own, and in the comfort of their homes or offices, without the need to visit KW-IRS office.

Aside the officers in charge of payment of PAYE in the State’s MDAs,the training also had in attendance Management and Staff of KW-IRS.
