The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, (CITN), Ilorin and District Society represented by its Chairman, Mr Olalekan Fatai Ayodimeji and other executives paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), Mrs Shade Omoniyi at the Corporate Head Office on Thursday, 10th October, 2019.
In an address delivered by the Chairman, CITN Ilorin and District Society, congratulated Mrs Shade Omoniyi on her appointment describing it as a well deserved development which will also be helpful to the advancement of tax administration in Kwara State.
In his address, Ayodimeji highlighted the responsibilities of the CITN as a body responsible for the regulation and control of the practise of the tax profession in its entire ramifications as well as the determination of the nature of standard of knowledge and skills to be attained by persons seeking to become professional tax practitioners or administrators. He also mentioned that the body is empowered to regulate tax practice in Nigeria with only its members (CITN) given the right to practice Taxation.
He also said the Ilorin and District Society of CITN is one of the existing 36 District societies admitted in 2010 and has since been duly discharging its’ responsibilities to its members which are about 300 in number.
Ayodimeji explained that the purpose of the visit was to declare CITN’s maximum support for the administration of the Executive Chairman of KW-IRS and also to intimate her of issues concerning CITN that requires her immediate attention.
Part of the issues highlighted for the Executive Chairman of KW-IRS is the Mandatory Professional Training Programme (MPTP) which involves the Institute bringing together members and keeping them abreast on issues related to taxation annually.
The CITN Boss expressed readiness and commitment to partner with the Chairman of (KW-IRS) and ensure that her tenure achieves great success.
In her response, the Executive Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), Mrs Shade Omoniyi, extended appreciation to the Executives and members of the CITN Ilorin and District Society for deeming it necessary to pay her a courtesy on assumption of office.
Omoniyi, commended the activities of the CITN and promised a more cordial partnership with KW-IRS. She assured that all issues raised by the Executives of CITN at the visit will be considered promptly and feedback will be sent to the Institute in due course.
