The Executive Chairman (EC), Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), Mrs. Shade Omoniyi has assured members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Ilorin and District Society that the Service will continue to encourage the smooth relationship between both bodies for an even development across board.
Mrs. Omoniyi, gave the assurance on Thursday, 24th October, 2019 at the KW-IRS’s Head Office in Ilorin during a courtesy visit paid by the State’s ICAN Executive Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Ibrahim. Also present was the Assistant Director Internal Audit (KW-IRS), Mrs. Omolara Ojulari and other members of ICAN.
In his address during the courtesy visit, the Chairman, ICAN, Ilorin and District Society, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Ibrahim congratulated the Executive Chairman of KW-IRS on her well-deserved appointment and urged her to continue to lead the Service to an enviable position. Alhaji Ibrahim said ICAN remains one of the leading Professional bodies in the country with a core mandate of regulating the accountancy profession and protecting public interest. He also expressed assurance of the State’s branch to continue to render needed support in order to foster a more productive relationship between both bodies. Alhaji Ibrahim also prayed that the administration of the Executive Chairman prosper. He stated that ICAN as a professional body will be of assistance by giving professional advice to the Service to solve technical problems when needed.
The Kwara State ICAN Chairman requested that KW-IRS continue through its engagement and placement of its members in the relevant departments for efficiency, sponsorship of KW-IRS staff for MPCE programmes and annual conferences and essentially the construction of a secretariat for the organization.
The KW-IRS EC responded that the Service will continue to partner with ICAN in the State by rendering necessary support for its activities such as conferences and subscription of staff of the Service to ICAN programmes on periodic basis just as it has been done for other professional bodies in the State since inception of the Revenue House. She said based on the fact that some Management Staff of the Service are also members of ICAN, the Service will liaise with the State Government and streamline means of assisting the organization with the construction of a dedicated Secretariat for its activities.
In her closing remark, Mrs. Omolara Ojulari, who also doubles as an Executive member of ICAN, Ilorin and District Society appreciated the Executive Chairman KW-IRS for honoring members of the professional body despite the short notice of their visit and pleaded that the Service continue to render assistance. She said ICAN will always be ready to work closely with the Service.
