The Executive Chairman of Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), Dr Muritala Awodun has assured all that by January 2018, all revenues that are generated by Ministries, Departments & Agencies (MDAs) in Kwara State will be fully automated which would significantly block revenue leakages being experienced in the past and improve collections. Dr Muritala Awodun stated this during a courtesy tour at Kwara State Secretariat, Ilorin.
The Executive Chairman, KW-IRS explained that while there had been various engagement between the Ministries and the Service for the design of the platform to transition from manual to automated process, it was now more important than ever giving the interest and directive of the State Executive Council. He explained that the Council had set up a Committee on the automation of collections of MDAs chaired by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji S. I. Gold. The Committee is tasked with ensuring effective implementation of the automation and reporting levels of compliance of the various MDAs.
The Honourable Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries of the various Ministries pledged support to Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) in revenue generation. This is part of efforts to ensure Kwara State improve in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for socio-economic development of the State.
Among the Ministries visited were the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, Education and Human Capital Development, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Women Affairs and Social Development as well as the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
